The Real Curren$y

Influence...

You see, in our communities, influence is stronger than currency. In our neighborhoods, the youngest generations in the households now look up to illusions of influence on TV. Simply stating that because the life entertainers live is simply not what they see. Case in point, when famous "trap" rappers come back to their hoods, most often than not they rarely come back to live there. Why? Isn't the glorification of the hood, all that they boast and brag about? In my humble opinion, I have no qualms with "trap" music, I take issue that, rappers who "trap" never come back, or live outside of the neighborhood they grew up in. IF you are such a great hustler, come back, your influence is tremendous, teach the young bucks who you influence the basics of the hustle. Give back. Just spend 10 hours a week in any hood, talk to the kids. They clearly listen to you even when you are not there. So imagine the fascination, the attentiveness they would have if rappers actually showed up. It could be like the NFL's play 60. Even if all you do is answer questions, that is better than nothing. Moving out of the hood, when the hood needs you now more than they did on your come up, is not only ironic but asinine. Becoming a person of influence is an extremely big deal. We have all been kids, sometimes our heroes, (if not parents) carry more weight than our parents as adolescents.

As an example, because I am an artist, but I also substitute on the side, what if rappers did that just once a month. How uplifting that would be. You see, rappin is mad dope, there's probably not a profession more glorified in the community than artistry. However, rappers don't influence elections, they don't influence the food and drug administration, they don't influence curriculums in the schools their young fans attend. For the most part, rappers only influence aspects of your life that many should control by thinking what is cool, what to wear, how to talk, how to approach women/men, where to spend money. Basically, they influence you to do them, not to do you.

I believe that to be quite ironic, out of all the things you would want to control in this life, the rapper you listen to the most, determines what you will control. I am not droning on looking for a rapper to lead the way. We been asking our "role models" to do more since.. since forever. So I decided to be the change I wish to see and started MC'ing myself. So to all of you "conscious" "black power" 'freedom fighters", instead of whining and talking about it through social media, DO SOMETHING about it. I guarantee you will get more followers in real life than through the internet. I'm just saying.

If you don't like what's on the radio, make something better...
If you don't like what's on tv, produce something that's edutainment
If you don't like the Chinese in your neighborhood, kick then people out by setting up your own cornerstore.

I could go on, but I am sure you see the solutions to our problems are simple, but who will actually DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. Those are the real leaders, bosses, and thugs. If you gangsta, take money from the white man and start a bank, that;s gangsta, killing your brother and selling drugs that kill your people is not gangsta, that's mental retardation. Sell crack to the Chinese and European, that's gangsta.

Like I said, if rappers have the most influence, be one, start a business, change the world. Easy as 1-2-3.

If you want specific info on exactly how to start a business, call me, I'm building one right now as we speak.
